The Owl Route

The purpose of the “Owl Route” is to assist new adventure riders in developing their skill and confidence while experience some of the best adventure riding routes South Africa has to offer.

The route travels through the scenic Knysna forests, various famous gravel passes including the ominous Baviaans Kloof. We will spend a night in the fabulous surfing village of Jeffreys Bay before heading off into the Karoo desert. There we visit Nieu Bethesda and Helen Martins famous Owl House. A stop if the idyllic Karoo village of Prince Albert allows us to visit the Prince Albert art gallery and allow us to indulge in Karoo cuisine at its wonderful restaurant. This is followed by a ride through the appropriately named “Die Hel”. See more details on our “Die Hel” day trip on this site. The tour through the Southern Cape wouldn’t be complete without a stop over in the ostrich town of Outshoorn. We finish one again in Sedgefield where a farewell dinner and prizegiving will be held at the Phili Phili Bar on the beach.
